Are you getting the bengali fonts properly? Like , say anadabazar? Because I’m not , although I don’t hv problems in reading bengali newspapers like anandabazar, aajkal, bartaman, pratidin etc.

Hi Qbit, to read the online paper you need to install Bitstream’s webfont player it prompts automatically. Say yes and there you shall see the fonts, provided you have the bangla fonts installed. Try it and let me know if it worked.

Now that I read my comment again, I can see it didn’t make much sense. Ok- so here am trying again: I can read anandabazar, bartaman, aajkal etc in my comp (the one with windows only, it doesn’t work for my mac) and yes I needed the bitsream webfonts.
But when I tried to read this blog of yours, (particularly glad to find a bangla blog), I couldn’t read it properly. Do I need to install something else to read yr blog?

Oh ok. Well the fonts are clear on my comp – just using unicode. I don’t think you need to install anything if your comp is geared for Bangla reading. I think it should have bangla fonts and in the regional language set-up the box next to the line “Install files for complex script and right to left languages including Thai” should be checked.
However, will check my blog on other machines as well to see if there is any problem.

I use one of the windows machine in the office to read bangla newspapers. So to read your blog I guess now I hv to wait..
I cannot read Bangla anyway in Mac or Linux — if you can find out how to do it in Mac let me know.. thanks

Friends tell me that any unicode compliant bangla font should help you read the page.

Thanks for your suggestions. I installed, I suppose all available unicode compliant bangla fonts.Now I can see the right fonts but aa-kaars , ee-kars, e-kaars etc are all messed up.
But I don’t think anything else could be done.

Bangla paper like Anandabazar can be read on IE only. They use embedded fonts which don’t show up on Firefox. If you are using the latter browser, please use the IE extension.

I could not read Anandabazar Patrika in my Windows Vista. I installed bitsteam font. I can open the Patrika but after some times it is closed with the message “windows have problem” and it quits.

I have some problem in reading newspapers like anandabazar, pratidin etc.
my laptop is windows vista and internet explorer is IE 7.
initially it was OK, but for last few days, the page opens properly and after if I like to go for any news in details it showing some problem and get closed autometically. then what should i do.

(12) Appropriate scales should be implemented for Part-time Teachers Tutors/Demonstrators/ Accompanists/Coaches”
এর পরিপেক্ষীতে আমাদের প্রথম প্রশ্ন হল সবর্ভারতীয অধ্যাপক সংগঠন তার দাবীসনদের ১২ নম্বর দাবী হিসাবে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের যথোপযুক্ত স্কেল চালু করার কথা বলা হয়েছে। এই দাবীতে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষদের সংগঠিত করার কাজে ওয়েবকুটা কি ভুমিকা গত কয়েকবছরে নিয়েছে , বা নিলেও তা পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের অবগত করার কোন ব্যবস্থা করা হয়নি কেন? দ্বিতীয় প্রশ্ন হল – ভারতে উচ্চশিক্ষকতায় নিযুক্ত পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের সংখ্যা ফুলটাইম শিক্ষকদের তুলনায় কম নয় । সেক্ষেত্রে এই দাবী ১ নম্বর দাবী না হয়ে ১২ নম্বর দাবী কেন ?
২) সাধারন বামপন্থী আদর্শ হল কেউ কোন জীবিকাতে যুক্ত থাকলে তাকে কর্মচ্যুত না করা। এ কারনেই যে কোন চাকরির নিরাপত্তা তাদের অন্যতম দাবী। ভাগচাষীর জমিতে অধিকার তারা দাবী করে। ভাড়াটে কে গৃহচ্যুত না করার তারা দাবী করে। পার্টটাইম দের ক্ষেত্রে এ জাতীয় কোন দাবী তারা করে কি ? AIFUCTO পার্টটাইমদের স্কেল চালু করার দাবীর মাধ্যমে তাদের চাকরির নিরাপত্তাই দাবী করছে। তারা মনে করছে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকতা একটি জীবিকা। পশ্চিমবঙ্গে কোন পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকের চাকরির নিরাপ্ত্তার জন্য ওয়েবকুটা কি ধরনের ভুমিকা আগে নিয়েছে বর্তমানে নিচ্ছে বা ভবিষ্যতে নেবে ?
৩) জাতীয় অর্থনীতির বাধ্যবাধকতায় গত কয়েক বছর পুর্বে প্রায় ১ দশক ধরে পুর্ন সময়ের শিক্ষক নিয়োগ সে রকম হয়নি। ফলে পশ্চিম বঙ্গে বহু উচ্চশিক্ষিত ছেলে মেয়ে পার্ট টাইম শিক্ষকতাকে জীবিকা হিসাবে মেনে নিয়েছে। ওয়েবকুটা কি মনে করে এই সময়ে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে উচ্চশিক্ষার কোন উন্নতি হয়নি। যদি হয়ে থাকে তবে ওয়েবকুটা কি মনে করেনা যে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গের উচ্চশিক্ষার উন্নতিতে সহায়ক। যদি সহায়ক হয় তা হলে তাদের নিরাপত্তার দাবীর উর্দ্ধে পুর্ন সময়ের শিক্ষক নিয়োগের দাবী ওয়েবকুটা কিভাবে করে? পার্টটাইম শিক্ষক রা যদি উচ্চশিক্ষার উন্নতির পরিপন্থী হয় তা হলে AIFUCTO তাদের স্কেল চালুর দাবী করছে কেন?
৪) ওয়েবকুটা সবধরনের কলেজ শিক্ষকের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে থাকে তা হলে এই সংগঠনে গুরুত্বপুর্ন পদে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষক রা নেই কেন ?
৫) ওয়েবকুটার যে কোন ধরনের সম্মেলনে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের সমস্যা সম্পর্কে আলোচনা অত্যন্ত দায়সারা ভাবে করা হয় কেন?
৬) বিভিন্ন কলেজে পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকরা একটি সংগঠন “পশ্চিমবঙ্গ কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অংশকালীন অধ্যাপক সমিতি” নামে একটি সংগঠনের সদস্য পদ গ্রহন করছে। এই সংগঠন যদিও সরাসরি CPIM কে সমর্থন করছে। তা স্বত্বেও আশ্চর্য় জনক ভাবে দেখা যাচ্ছে বিভিন্ন কলেজের পুর্ন সময়ের শিক্ষক যারা ওয়েবকুটার সদস্য তারা এর বিরোধীতা করছে। এবং এই সংগঠন করার অপরাধে কোন কোন পার্টটাইম শিক্ষক কর্মচ্যুত হয়েছেন । যেখানে সমাজবিরোধী সংগঠন বা উগ্রপন্থী সংগঠন ছাড়া কেন সংগঠন ভারতে নিষিদ্ধ নয় সেখানে এই সংগঠনে যোগ দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে ওয়েবকুটার আদর্শগত অবস্থান কি? য়দিও পশ্চিমবঙ্গে অধ্যক্ষদের নিজস্ব একটি সংগঠন আছে। এতে শিক্ষক আন্দোলন কি দুরবল হচ্ছে ? যদি হয় তবে ওয়েবকুটা তার বিরোধীতা করেনা কেন? পার্টটাইম শিক্ষক রা কি নিজস্ব সংগঠন করতে পারে না বিশেষ করে যেখানে একটি কলেজে পূর্ণসময়ের শিক্ষক ও আংশিক সময়ের শিক্ষকদের বেতন ও নিরাপত্তার বৈষম্য এত বেশী ? জাতীয় আন্তজার্তিক এত বিপদ থাকা স্বত্বেও WEBCUTAর প্রধান শত্রু পার্টটাইমরা !
৭)শ্রদ্ধেয় উচ্চশিক্ষামন্ত্রী মাননীয় সুদর্শন রায়চৌধুরী যিনি পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের প্রতি অত্যন্ত সহানুভুতি শীল তিনি য়থার্থ ভাবে ওয়েবকুটার রাজসম্মেলনে কিছু পুর্ন সময়ের শিক্ষকদের সমালোচনা করেছেন যারা পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের স্বার্থ বিরোধী ভুমিকা নিতে তৎপর। এই সামন্ততান্ত্রিক মানসিকতা সম্পন্ন তথাকথিত শিক্ষকদের প্রতিহত করতে ওয়েবকুটা কি ধরনের ভূমিকা নিতে চলেছে ?
আমরা সকল আংশিক সময়ের শিক্ষকই ওয়েবকুটার সদস্য । পার্টটাইম শিক্ষকদের নিজস্ব বিষয়ে কিছু প্রশ্ন আমাদের মধ্যে থাকলেও আমরা শিক্ষক আন্দোলনে ওয়েবকুটার অতীত গৌরবজ্জ্বল ভুমিকা কে শ্রদ্ধার সংগে স্মরন করছি একই সঙ্গে এই সংগঠনের শক্তিবৃদ্ধি দীর্ঘজীবন কামনা করছি। ওয়েবকুটার গনতান্ত্রীক ঐতিহ্যকে বিশ্বাস ও শ্রদ্ধা করি বলেই এই প্রশ্ন গুলি আমরা করছি ও তার উত্তরের আশা করছি। সেই সঙ্গে কামনা করি পুঁজী বাদ সাম্রাজ্যবাদ বিশ্বায়নের অাগ্রাসন থেকে দেশ ও জাতী কে রক্ষা করতে পেশাগত বৈষম্য ভুলে ঐক্যবদ্ধ ভাবে আমরা সকলে যেন ওয়েবকুটাকে শক্তিশালী করতে পারি। আশা করি আমাদের উল্লেখিত প্রশ্ন সমুহের লিখিত উত্তর দিয়ে আমাদের প্রশ্নগুলির নিরসন করবেন ও এই বৃহৎ সংগ্রামে আমাদের অংশীদার করবেন।
